Panchen Lama
Who is the Panchen Lama?
He is responsible for protecting, liberating and enlightening
Tibetans. The Panchen Lama is the second most important spiritual
leader for Tibetans (first being the Dalai Lama.)
What Happened to the Panchen Lama?
On May 14, 1995, The Dalai Lama recognized then 6 year
old Gendun Choekyi Nyima as the 11th reincarnation of the Panchen Lama.
On May 17th, however, Gendun Choekyi Nyima, His family and the Lama who
led the search for this incarnate were taken by China's government to
Beijing. These persons are now missing and no one has seen or talked
with them ever since. China has no legal justification to hold Gendun
Choekyi Nyima.
Gendun Choekyi Nyima is considered the youngest political
prisoner in the world!
Why should you
take action?
In December 1995, China illegally announced its own Panchen
Lama, Gyaltsen Norbu! China's atheist government has no authority
to choose the Panchen Lama, only the Dalai Lama can do this. It
is critical for the survival of Tibet and the Tibetan people that the
real Panchen Lama, Gendun Cheokyi Nyima, be released immmediately!
